Makita Cordless XCS02ZK / XCS02T1 18V Steel Rod and Rebar Flush Cutter
Out of left field Makita has just released a very cool flush cutting rebar and threaded rod tool.
The new XCS02ZK (bare tool) and XCS02T1 (kit) are a brushless Li-ion tool designed specifically to flush cut threaded rod, rebar and similar material. Leaving as little as 1/8″ of exposed material. This tool uses a 4-5/16″ 24 tooth carbide tipped circular saw blade (shown further down the page) to make the cuts. The motor and body are based on the popular XAG04/XAG09 brushless cordless grinder with slide switch. We are still trying to find out if the tool features a brake or not (XAG09 platform).
How it Works
As you can see in the photo above the Makita XSC02ZK / XCS02T1 has a fully covered blade with an exposed front entry slit for making cuts. The material being cut rests against the orange guide bar which supports the tool and material. Simply plunge the tool slowly into the rod and it cuts. Simple as that.
